Back for more we see! For all you girls out there who love a little sexy and drama added to your dresses, we’ve got great news for you! Included in Spring’s 2012 new season is the peplum. Peplum style first originated in ancient Greece worn by all women, but now instead of used, dirty tunics it is an easy way to look sophisticated and stylish. We have previously seen the style used in the 40’s and repeated in the 80’s when women used peplum on coats to attract attention to their small waists and hourglass figures. The reason why we love this is because it can be altered in many different ways and still look amazing. Seen in the picture above Vera Wang, Jason Wu, Badgley Mischka, and Cushnie et Ochs display perfect examples.

Hey lovies,

These are our favorite looks of the new year and we hope you enjoy them just as much as we do!

1. Alexander Wang

-Favorite qualities: We love how structured the blazer is and how it is so sleek and tailored looking. The skirt reminds us of a kilt, which gives this look a more masculine/edgy feel.

2. Elie Saab

-Favorite qualities: We want to first start out by saying, who couldn’t love this dress? It is so elegant. It is utterly breath-taking due to how etherial this garment appears to be. Yet, what is hidden, is the fact that someone has spent the time to individually place each speck of sequin onto the dress. The thought is mind-boggling.

3. Jason Wu

-Favorite qualities: We love how edgy, classic and CLASSY this outfit is. The leather collar, the tailored pant, and the leather gloves make this look professional and chic. The striped sweater adds the perfect touch of color to the modest outfit. Turning it from stylish secretary to runway.

Bonjour amours!

We haven’t had a post yet about our obsession for shoes, so, here is a hot new style that is being seen all over the runway for Spring/Summer 2012. Metallic toes have been previously used to make shoes more durable but now they are one of the top contenders of spring/summer’s new trend for shoes. On the left, the Yves Saint Laurent gold heels with the metallic toe are a way to add some zest to a more muted outfit. On the right, the Louis Vuitton heels with the metallic toe is the perfect companion to a vibrant outfit. These shoes add the subtle pop of color when needed. They are too fabulous and we love them!

Sorry for the delay, but we’re back! Anyway, it’s a new year full of new fashion surprises, but we first want to congratulate the 5”10 Netherlander, Lara Stone, for another amazing year! She was voted as the #1 model of the year once again by models.com. She was first discovered in a Paris metro train when she was only 12 years old and then later on participated in an Elite model look competition when she was 15. She has opened the shows of some of the biggest designers in the world such as, Isabel Marant, Christopher Kane, Fendi, and MaxMara and closed the shows of Diesel, Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, and Balmain. What makes her popular to many of her clients is her unique personality, so here’s a quote discussing one of the reasons why the runway isn’t her fave, “I kept saying ‘Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me,’ because I had to get to the catwalk, but she just kept posing. So I pushed her. It was only a few stairs.” Haha! We love her and its so refreshing to see a successful model who is professional, but still knows how to have fun!

“Tangerine Tango” ladies, WE’RE IN LOVE!

Pantone Institute was asked for their prediction on what was going to be the top shade of spring 2012 and it was spot-on! ”Tangerine Tango” was seen all over the runway of New York Fashion Week in designers such as, Sophie Theallet, Steven Alan, and Doo-Ri (shown in picture from left to right). One of the things we love is how versatile tangerine is. We feel that Sophie Theallet’s gorgeous dress is a piece that one can wear to work, you can wear Steven Alan’s simple but beautifully pleated dress to a cocktail party or just around town, paired with a cute flat, and lastly you can wear Doo-Ri’s dress to a more formal event, like a red carpet. Also, another thing amazing about tangerine is how great it looks on different skin tones, so this is where nail polish plays a role. If you’re looking for a hot new color for your next mani-pedi trip with your best friend, tangerine is it!

Ombre: In or Out?

Basically, ombre is the movement of dark color to light color. Lily Aldridge, Victoria’s Secret model, is notorious for sporting her ombre affected hair, although we love it, has it become overused? Let’s see here, Alexa Chung, Sarah Jessica Parker, Whitney Port, Drew Barrymore, Jessica Biel, Rachel Bilson, and countless others have all fallen victim to ombre’s spell. So, we think the answer to that question is a definite yes. Not only has ombre been a fad in hair, but it has also been quite popular in clothing. One of us owns this Robert Gellar sweater, and it is amazing! Ombre clothing is much less common than ombre hair. So, we have come to the realization that ombre hair is sadly but surely out. However, we are leaving you to decide if ombre clothing is in or not…

Crop tops, sooo 2007, hoe status ladies…and we’re all about keeping it classy. Honestly guys, fat or skinny, rain or shine, this is a don’t EVER. Women of all ages just don’t understand that showing off their midriffs is simply not cute. These are lessons that were taught to us in elementary school, remember? Sister Francis’s uniform rules? Whether you tie it in the front, bejewel it, or add some animal print, it just does not work.

Colored Tights?

Whether you love or hate it, and we love it, it’s a hot new trend for winter/spring seasons. Let’s face it, it’s cold in NYC and Sarah made her dull-colored outfit pop with these turquoise colored tights from American Apparel, $14. Tights, as we all know, are a great way of staying warm, and not letting our fave summer clothes get dusty.
